Guitar repair and setup courses – Clearwater, FL

Your Instructors

At Guitar-Tech Academy, you’ll train directly with Hank Castello—author of Guitar Setups for Professionals—and his team of full-time, highly experienced repair technicians. Our instructors aren’t musicians dabbling in repair work on the side. They’re seasoned techs who practice and teach this craft every day, and they’ve been trained in effective adult-education methods to make sure you learn quickly and confidently.

Curriculum

We cover the full range of stringed instrument repair and setup: electric and acoustic guitars, basses, violins, cellos, banjos, and more.  Unlike programs that have you assemble a kit guitar, you’ll work hands-on with real instruments, with real issues, just like you’ll see in the field.

Become a Professional

Our eight-week on-site training is designed to take you from beginner to a capable, working guitar technician. Want to go deeper or sharpen your speed after graduation? Most students qualify for two additional weeks of supervised, hands-on shop experience at no extra charge—because once you’re contributing on real jobs, we both benefit.

Own Your Own Business

We’re fully committed to your long-term success. Every student receives guidance on launching and running their own repair business, and graduates can become part of the Guitars Done Right network. That includes a ready-to-use website optimized for your local area, an online store, built-in invoicing and bookkeeping tools, and ongoing marketing support—everything you need to hit the ground running.

You’ll Love Clearwater!

Training takes place at Hank’s Guitar Shop (aka Nationwide Guitar Repair) in Clearwater, Florida—just 30 minutes from Tampa International Airport. The area offers plenty of affordable lodging, great restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and some of the country’s best beaches. Orlando’s attractions are just over an hour away.

The Right Choice –

In a job market that’s tough on both younger workers and those over fifty, becoming a professional guitar tech is a practical path to independence. You can run your own business from a spare room or garage, enjoy a short “commute,” and earn a solid income helping players get more from their instruments.
