Our team of guitar repair instructors is committed to teaching the correct way to professionally repair and setup guitars and other stringed instruments. Your guitar tech instructors are real, full-time guitar techs who are also trained educators.
Hank Castello
Founder / Instructor
Hank is the founder of Guitar Tech Academy, Guitars Done Right and Guitar Flipper and the author of several books including “Guitar Setups For Professionals”, “Level & Crown (& other fretwork)”, and “How To Start A Successful Guitar Business”.
Liam Sorrell
Instructor / Tech
Liam is our tech instructor. He has years of experience as a guitar repair tech and has been our monthly “Setup Workshop” instructor since 2024.
Josh Hermann
Touring Tech Instructor
Josh is a touring tech for several big touring bands traveling across the USA and Canada. Josh will teach you the nuances between being a guitar tech and being a touring guitar tech.
Chase Stewart
Instructor / Tech
Chase is a graduate of Guitar Tech Academy and has been working full-time as a tech and assistant instructor since August 2025.
Chase says he could barely restring a guitar before enrolling in Guitar Tech Academy. He now handles electronic issues, refrets, setups and headstock breaks, like a pro.
Matt Lawrence
Asst Instructor / Tech
Matt is an assistant instructor and a great, full-time guitar repair tech.
Matt previously worked at Collings Guitars for several years, gaining experience and keen insight into the workings of guitars.
Hank Castello
GTA Founder
Here’s Hank, of Hank’s Guitar Shop, working on our online guitar repair tech school. We’re hoping to have it online by the start of 2027.
Hank is the author of “Guitar Setups For Professionals”, and the creative mind behind Guitars Done Right, Guitar Shop Directory, Guitar Flipper and, of course, Guitar Tech Academy.
